... the secret to tradeshow marketing success is that there is NO SECRET to tradeshow marketing success! The secret is there is no secret? Sounds kind of Ying/Yang Ninja-speak, eh? But that is the answer. The secret is there are no secrets!

Stop spending your time searching for "tradeshow secrets". Tradeshow success depends mainly on two things...

 

PLANNING and HARD WORK.

Put another way, there simply is no easy way out. There are no "silver bullets" or shortcuts.

Your trade show marketing success depends on whether or not you are willing and able to PLAN and WORK HARD, and also WORK SMART. These simple elements are the "secret" to tradeshow marketing success, and to marketing success in general, and to life in general.

First, you should create a budget and figure out how much tradeshow exhibiting is going to cost you. Then you should estimate how much you can make by exhibiting at a tradeshow. If you at least think you are honestly going to make more than you will spend, then you should continue. If not, rather than loose a lot of money, you should look at other forms of marketing...

If it looks like tradeshow marketing would be cost effective for your business, then you need to find the right tradeshow to exhibit at. If you have the time, it is always a good idea to attend a few tradeshows (as an attendee and not spending money as an exhibitor) to both learn the ropes and see what works and what doesn't.

After you pick the right tradeshow, you need to focus on pre-show promotions. You need to let attendees know in advance to visit your tradeshow booth, and you need to let them know why they should visit your booth (since there will also be other interesting tradeshow booths to visit). At the show, you need to focus on making sure your tradeshow booth draws a crowd, and communicates your message... MORE TO COME ON THIS!

And after the show, you need to follow up on leads.

As you can see, none of this is rocket science, but it does require working hard and working smart, and that my little tradeshow grasshopper, is the secret to being a tradeshow ninja!
